Conference Organization

Organizing specialized conferences that address issues related to architecture and the built environment is one of the main objectives of the Center. CSAAR organizes a yearly conference that brings together scholars, academicians, and professionals from the region and the rest of the world. The conference will be held at one of the architectural schools in the region. The Center also collaborates with other academic and research institutions in planning and conducting joint conferences, seminars and exhibitions. Hosting CSAAR Conference

Architecture school interested in hosting one of CSAAR conferences has to submit a proposal indicating interest in hosting the event. The proposal can be submitted by a faculty member or the Chairman of school of architecture. The hosting institution has the right to nominate a conference co-chair in addition to the Conference Manager who will serve as the representative of the hosting institution in the conference organizing committee. The proposal consists of the following: 1) a letter of interest in hosting the conference, 2) a letter of commitment from the department head if the applicant is not the department head, and 3) name and contact information of the faculty members who will work as the Conference Manager or the Conference Co-Chair.  The letter of interest should also describe the auditorium(s) to be used, supporting facilities, audio/visual and computing resources, possible hotels and catering arrangements. CSAAR will be responsible of the financial and scientific aspects of the conference. If there is more than one proposal submitted, a hosting institution will be selected from among the proposals. Proposals to host one of CSAAR conferences should be addressed to conference @ csaar-center.org.

Duties of the Conference Manager

Conference Manager  is an administrative position that coordinates the conference activities at the hosting institution. Duties of the Conference Manager include: arranging venues for paper sessions, arranging for meals and coffee breaks; selecting the conference hotel and reserving a block of rooms at favorable rates; providing for transportation between the hotel and conference venue; planning tours to other local venues relevant to conference theme; and collaborating with the conference Chair(s). The conference manager is part of the conference organizing committee.
